savage 110 storm scope base screw size If you need help finding the right bases for a Savage centerfire rifle this guide will help you determine what you need to know about your rifle
Most mounts will accept both size screws Since they center on the head diameter and not the screw shank I had a customer buy a new Savage off the shelf from us The first thing you could do to see if your Savage Model 110 came with 6 48 or 8 40 screws is to do a so called hex key fit test Insert a 1 8 hex wrench into the screw holes on the receiver If the hex key fits snugly

So I call Savage and was told all the 110 s since 2020 are drilled 8 40 I ordered the EWG Hunter rail It comes with 6 48 and 8 40 screws 6 48 screws are 021 per thread 5 threads in the action is more than adequate so screws that protrude 100 below the scope base will hold the base and not bugger up
This might be a good time to drill out and convert to 8 40 screws If you are lucky you might be able to back the screws out fairly easily Soak in Acetone to loosen any thread 6 48 or 8 40 Screw Size for your Savage Model 110 Sometime after 2020 Savage started drilling some of their rifles for 8 40 screws instead of 6 48 which were in use from the beginning of the production of this

The action is drilled and tapped for scope mounts using the larger than standard 8 40 screw size With the lightweight rifle and the trend to bigger heavier scopes for long range shooting this is a good feature Can somebody please tell me what the scope base screw spacings are for the Savage 110 Long and Short actions According to the Weaver base specs the spacing of the front
The trick is to use a Picatinny style 1 piece scope raile base This will allow you to move the front ring back further over the action I like the Badger Ordnance rail base I used a 20MOA stainless Murphy Precision scope base on my 110 Ended up bedding it to the receiver for best stability using JB Weld then used Loctite on the screws mine
